Argie Davis

Argie Mae Davis, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014. 

Mrs. Davis was born April 26, 1928 in Caruthersville, Mo. to the late Lonnie and Clara (Drake) Tanner. 

On February 18, 1961 she married Gerald Lester Davis.  They were married over 50 years. He survives. 

Argie enjoyed the Dollar Store and liked fish dinners. They say she really didn’t like animals, but every now and then she would feed the neighbors cats and dogs and she dearly loved her family.

Also surviving are her daughters, Kathy and husband, Mark Ramsey and Patty and husband, Paul Meador; 2 brothers, Lloyd Tanner and Robert Tanner; grandchildren, Lacee, Kyle, Mariah, Miranda, and Marissa; one great-grandchild, Grayson. 

One brother, Junior Tanner also preceded her in death. 

Visitation for Mrs. Davis will begin at 12 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014, followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, with Ron Fowler officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Heart Association.

Michael Bame

Michael Joseph Bame, 50, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bame was born April 19, 1963 in Poplar Bluff.  He enjoyed fishing, swimming and loved the outdoors.  He was a member of the VFW Post 3416 and attended Bible Baptist Church. 

Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Clark; his siblings, Laura Pickard, Margaret Sparks and Wendell (Ricky) Bame Jr.; children, Amber, Johnny, Sarah, Bryon, Brandon, Tyler, Joe, Shawn and Jason; 2 grandchildren; and special friend, Carol Driscoe.

His father, Wendell Bame Sr. preceded him in death.

A memorial will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2013 at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Sherry Sturgeon- Shaw

Sherry Sturgeon-Shaw, 63, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away February 15, 2014. 

She was born September 10, 1950 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. to the late Bill and Nadine (Parker) Sturgeon. 

She had been a Registered Nurse and enjoyed painting, riding horses, and spending time with her grandchildren. 

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Shaw; brother, Ronnie Sturgeon; and her grandchildren, Ariel Darnell, Madison Toombs, Mason Toombs and McGowen Toombs.

She was  also preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Toombs.

A memorial visitation will be held at 2 pm on Saturday March 1 and memorial service will begin at 3 pm with Ron Fowler officiating.

Ronald “Joe” Browning

Ronald “Joe” Browning, 75, of Harviell passed away peacefully, Monday, February 17, 2014, at Westwood Hills Health Care Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Joe was born at home in Hamilton, Ohio on February 2, 1939. Later the family moved to Arizona where Joe graduated from Benson Union High School in Benson, Arizona in 1957. While he was in high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society and lettered in both football and baseball. He graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona 1961 where he achieved a BA Degree with a Major in Sociology and a Minor in Psychology. He received his Elementary School Certification and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1969, from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. After moving to Missouri, Joe obtained certification in Gifted Education and retired from the Greenville School system after 20 years of service.

Survivors include Joe’s wife of fifty years, Kathy, of Harviell; his three children, Chad of Poplar Bluff, Jeremy and his wife, Kim, of Russellville, Arkansas, and Esther Lynn Dunn and her husband, Brett, of Winnebago, Illinois; four grandchildren, Amanda and Brittney Browning and Christian and Garrett Dunn; one sister, Delores Clark of Payson, Arizona.

His parents, Estel and Gladys Browning, two brothers, and a sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Browning enjoyed gardening, crafts and the great outdoors of southern Missouri. He was a past-president of the Poplar Bluff Camp of Gideons International and a member of Westwood Baptist Church.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Steve Proctor officiating. Burial will be in Kinsey Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent in Joe’s memory to the Poplar Bluff Camp of Gideons International, 935 Mary Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo 63901

Bud Moore

Charles “Bud” Moore, 91, of Naylor, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Moore was born June 14, 1922, in Oxly, Mo., to the late William Moore and Carrie Patton Moore. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Ripley County. He had worked for the University of Missouri as a farm advisor and enjoyed hunting, country music and playing music. Mr. Moore was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.

On June 9, 1942, he married Josephine Derganc in Doniphan, Mo. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2006.

Survivors include one daughter, Anna Mary Sebourn (Charles) of Doniphan; two sons, Charles Moore Jr. (Jackie) of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Dennis B. Moore (Dixie) of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Lynn Sebourn, Connie Harms, Dean Sebourn, Denny Moore, Chuck Moore, Brian Moore and Andy Moore; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were sisters, Beulah Kincade, Ada Raper, Lona Portor, Bessie Hawkins and Wilma Woodard; and brothers, Orville Moore, Oliver Moore and Rassie Moore.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral Service will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel with burial following at Naylor Memorial Cemetery in Naylor, Mo.

Paul Grobe

Paul Grobe, 75, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Grobe was born October 1, 1938 in Poplar Bluff.  He was a member of Black River General Baptist Church and served in the United States Navy. He was co-owner of Tractor Supply and had owned a metal building construction company for many years.   He  also worked as a computer tech for IBM. 

On August 19, 1958 he married Mary (Romine) Grobe of Beeville, Tx.  She survives. 

Other survivors include his children, Carl Grobe and wife, Melba, Linda Grobe, Karen Grobe, Roger Grobe and wife, Shannon and Patricia Giarrusso and husband, Mike; one brother, Don Grobe; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. 

Mr. Grobe was preceded in death by his parents Paul E. Grobe and Elsie (Wilhelm) Grobe and two brothers Richard and Terry Grobe.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating.  Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery with full military honors.

Edna Mae Ridlen Cheek

Edna Mae Ridlen Cheek, 89, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Oakdale Caring Center. 

Edna was born October 5, 1924, at Fairdealing, Mo., to the late John and Lily (Parrish) Nobles. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and was always active in each of her churches she attended.  She especially enjoyed the Joy Meetings, her Sunday school class and various missions.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.  She also enjoyed fishing and sewing. 

She married John W. Ridlen on January 19, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo.  He preceded her in death on February 16, 1992. 

Survivors include one son, Roger W. Ridlen and wife, Glenda of Fairdealing, Mo.; a sister, Vivian Moritz, of Maywood, Ill.; three grandsons, Scott Ridlen (Lee) of Bella Vista, Ar., Mark Ridlen (Susie) of Piedmont, Ok., Marty Grace of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two granddaughters, Stephanie McCutcheon, of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Michelle Ridlen of Bakersfield, Ca.; 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.  A host of family and friends also survive.

She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Joy Grace. 

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. a Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Dr. William Vail will officiate.  Burial will be held at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.

Mark Edward Zink

Mark Edward Zink, 55, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at his residence. 

Mr. Zink was born May 20, 1958, in St. Louis, Mo.  He was a landscaper and enjoyed fishing. 

October 3, 1998 he married Cindy Piroli Zink, in Poplar Bluff.  She survives. 

Also surviving are his children, Christopher J P Zink, and April Marie Zink-Franklin; stepchildren, Chiristopher Piroli and Wendy Piroli; his parents, George and Barbara Nichols-Zink; a sister, Vickie Earnst, and brother, Matthew Zink; grandchildren, Ashley and Allison Franklin and step- grandchildren, Austin, Aaron and Allyson Bagwell, Payton Hall, and Brooklyn and Miabella Piroli.

Visitation will begin at 1p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff followed by funeral services at 2 p.m., in the chapel.  Burial will be in Cochran Cemetery.

Gregory Bost

Gregory Thomas Bost, 51, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Poplar Bluff Medical Center. 

Mr. Bost was born October 12, 1962 in Columbus, Indiana.  He enjoyed the outdoors, watching birds, drinking soda, cars, and collecting mom and baby items.

He is survived by his mother, Ila Taylor; one sister, Robin Dillinger and brother, Richard Dillinger; a niece, Ashley Taylor and several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

A memorial visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2014, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by funeral services at 6:30 p.m.

Edgar Lynn Davis

Edgar Lynn Davis, 52, of Fairdealing, Missouri, passed away at his residence on February 4, 2014. He was born June 10, 1962 in Missouri to the late H.D. Davis and Vada Yandell.

He was a farmer and enjoyed tatoos, working on old cars, electrical work and arrowhead hunting.

He is survived by one daughter, Misty Dawn Davis of Corning, Arkansas; as well as three sisters, Sharon Turrentine of Neellyville, Mo., Candy Hernadez of Doniphan, Mo. and Ronda Davis of Texas. Two half sisters, Charlotte James of Neelyville, and Charlene Durbin of Doniphan, Mo.  Three brothers, Jerry Davis of Fairdealing, Mo., Gary Davis of Wappapello, Mo and Carl D. Davis of Neelyville, Mo. several nieces and nephews also survivie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two brothers, James and Rodger Davis.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, In charge of local arrangements.
