Michael Ray

Michael Joe Ray, 56, of Williamsville, Mo., passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014. 

Mr. Ray was born September 16, 1957 in St. Louis, Mo. He worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service and construction for Ben Turner.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.  He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Branch, Mo. 

On June 21, 2012 he married Cynthia (Tolie) Ray.  She survives. 

Other survivors include his children, Michael Ray of Topeka, Ks. and Dakota Ray of Independence, Mo.; four stepdaughters, Melissa Cobb, Tiffany Cobb, Chyenne Cobb and Cherokee Cobb; his mother, Patty Ritz and step-father, Wallace Ritz; four sisters, Sharon Nichy, Janie Lane, Jeanie Roles and Misty Reynolds; four brothers, Steve Ray, John Ray, Tim Little and David Little; one grandchild, Haiden and three step-grandchildren, Carmine, Domenic and Michael.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilson Ray.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon, Wednesday, May 7, 2014, followed by funeral service at 1 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, in Poplar Bluff, officiated by Rev. Byron Beck.  A second visitation and funeral service will be held at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, 1270 S. Hwy. 5, Camdenton, Mo., on Saturday, May 10, 2014.  Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with funeral service at 1 p.m. Rev. Michael Puckett will officiate. Burial will be in the Allee Memorial Gardens in Camdenton, Mo.

Sammy Lee Williams

Sammy Lee Williams, 71, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away May 2, 2014, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Williams was born July 6, 1942 to the late Jethrow and Mary Lane-Williams, in Deering, Mo.

Mr. Williams retired as a welder and then sales.  He enjoyed photography and was a member of True Believers Missionary Baptist Church.  He was also a member of the P. A. L. Athletic Boxing League. 

He was married to Marilyn Williams, who preceded him in death on November 18, 1997.

Mr. Williams is survived by his 8  children, Diane Bass (James), Caroline Davis, LaTina Lee (Darnell), Rodney Williams, Charmaine Brown (Willie), Simona Ware (Bobby), Scott Williams and Rochelle  Briggs; two sisters June Marie Webb and Dortha Williams; and one brother, Rev. Dr. Johnny Williams; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Previously he was married to Erma Williams, Benton Harbor, Michigan, who survives.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Coleman.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The Rev. Dr. Johnny Williams will officiate the services.  Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

James Dale “Cadillac” Colter

James Dale “Cadillac” Colter, 69, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away May 1, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Colter was born on August 24, 1944 in Poplar Bluff. He was the son of the late Lenard and Lorraine Colter and Daphine McGhee. 

He loved being a husband, father and grandpa. He was of the Baptist faith and love helping people, he served as a volunteer firefighter at Lake Road Sub Station, when he wasn’t driving over the road for many years. He served in the United States Army and National Guard and was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed fishing and gigging.

On October 20, 1968 he married Gail Levan  in Rock Island, Ill.  She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Michelle Murphy (Tubby), Karmen Lucas (Mike), James Dale Colter Jr. and Thomas Colter; six sisters; Kathy Gibbs (Terry), Carol Keeney, Linda Faust (Ed), Elaine Lannom (Lanny), Karen Rodery and JoAnn Pierce (Dennis); four brothers, Alan Colter, David Colter, Gary Colter (Debbie) and Jeff McGhee (Patty); three sister-in-laws, Sandy Spain (Paul), Charlotte Donlson (Les) and Anita Hupp (Bob), one brother-in-law; Roger Levan (Dorinda); nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Frank and Dorothy Levan; one sister, Imogene Clark; a brother-in-law, Troy Levan, and three nephews.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ralph Mayes officiating. Internment will follow at the Duley Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with full military honors.
