Charles Franklin Fox

Charles F. Fox, 67, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, October 30, 2015, at his residence.

Mr. Fox was born July 27, 1948 in Paragould, Ark.  He was a lifetime resident of Butler County and attended Grace Christian Fellowship and Midland Church.

He was retired from the Poplar Bluff Police Department.  Mr. Fox enjoyed car shows, drag racing and his beloved dog Harley.

On April 12, 1970, he married Brenda Sue Fox in Poplar Bluff.  She preceded him in death on August 3, 2014.

Surviving are his children, Jerry Dale Fox (Paula), Kristy Dawn Smith (Matt); his sisters, Kim Hutson (Kevin), Pam Massey (Terry) and Linda Asher (Gilbert); eight grandchildren, Jerrica and Julia Fox, Matthew and Kaylee Smith, Chelsey King, Kylly and Storm Jay and Jessica Jarrell.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. with Rev. Rick White and Rev. Bud Goins officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.

Joanna Chitwood

Joanna Lee Chitwood, 57, of Fairdealing, Mo., passed away Sat. Oct. 24, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Chitwood was born March 17, 1958 in Savannah, IL. She served on the board at the Shelter Workshop in Doniphan and volunteered time at the Springhill Missionary Baptist School of Hope in Fairdealing. She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, taking care of her home, and working outdoors.

On March 18, 1978 Joanna married Bro. Russell Chitwood in Silvis, Ill. He survives.

Also surviving is 1 daughter, Amy Nelson and husband Raymond Lee of Williamsville, Mo.; 3 sisters, Freda Matney of Austin, TX., Wanda Dowell of  Eagleville, Missouri, Dianna Wackler of Piqua, OH.; 1 brother, Floyd Matney of Prophets Town, IL.; and 1 granddaughter, Isabella.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Matney and mother Madaline Nelms Matney.

Visitation will  begin at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. Funeral will take place on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015  at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Bro. Larry Edwards Sr. and Bro. Kevin Crider officiating. Burial will be at the Fairdealing Cemetery.

Elmer Sonny Campton Jr.

Elmer Sonny Campton Jr. 63, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away October 23, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Campton was born on October 15, 1952, in Haure, Montana, to the late Elmer and Genevieve Mary (Culver) Campton.

Elmer had worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed camping, loved motorcycles and being with family.  He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Grandin Masonic Lodge 579, past master of the Eastern Star 519 in Grandin, Mo., Scottish Rite in St. Louis, and Three Rivers Shrine Club in Poplar Bluff.

He was married to Iva Jean Campton.  She preceded him in death in 2008.

Survivors include his sister, Loretta, as well as other relatives and many friends.

A brother, James Campton, also preceded him in death.

A memorial visitation service will be held at 6pm Thursday October 29 at the Calvary General Baptist Church on PP Hwy, followed by a Masonic service at 6:30pm

Robert James Wooldridge

Robert James Wooldridge, 72, of Corning, Arkansas passed away October 22, 2015 at his residence. He was born January 12, 1943 at Lafe, Arkansas to the late Joseph and Dora (Powers) Wooldridge.

On September 28, 1964, at Corning, Arkansas He was married to Maryetta Page. She survives.

Also surviving  one child; Lyn Taylor of Corning, Arkansas, Sisters, Sharon Davis, Patricia Sullivan, Connie Sullivan and Vicky Robertson, brothers; Donald Wooldridge, and Joseph Wooldridge. His grandchildren, Latasha Taylor, Amber Stuart, Robert Lee Wooldridge and Paige Creed. Great Grand-children, Kason Jobe, Tyson Wooldridge, Allie Stuart and Axel Creed.

He is preceded in death by one daughter; Rebecca Carol Knee, his parents and sister Betty Cashin and brothers; Eugene, Burial, and Michael Wooldridge.

e was a member of the New Beginning Tabernacle of Corning, Arkansas and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and riding four wheelers with family and friends and really enjoyed going to church.

Visitation for Mr. Wooldridge will be Sunday October 25, 2015 starting at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m., in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. Burial Will be in the Richwood Cemetery at Corning, Arkansas with Charles Midgett officiating.

Edward Hendrickson

Edward Hendrickson, 85, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at Cori Manor Nursing Facility in Fenton, Mo.

Mr. Hendrickson was born December 6, 1929 in Hendrickson, Mo. to the late George Hendrickson and Julia (Autrey) Hendrickson.

He had worked as a logger and carpenter and enjoyed the outdoors and visiting with people.  He especially enjoyed children.

Survivors includes one sister, Dollie Horn of St. Louis, Mo.; four nieces, Joyce Thomas, Toulie Feece, Patricia Deka and Donna Panos; as well as four nephews, Allen White, Charles Horn, Bill Horn and Ricky Hendrickson.

He is also preceded in death by his brother, Virgil Hendrickson and a sister, Goldie May White.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral will begin at noon Friday, October 30, 2015 in funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Ronnie Dell Roper

Ronnie Dell Roper, 54, of Naylor, Missouri passed away at his residence October 21, 2015.  He was born March 2, 1961 at Kennett, Missouri to Eldon and Mae (Richmond) Roper.

On September 16, 1983 at Overland, Missouri, He was married to Kimberly Stoutt. She survives.   Also surviving are his children, Jo Roper and fiancée LaTonya Nelson  and Angela Roper both of Harviell, Missouri and Bruce Roper and wife Nicole of Fairdealing, Missouri. His mother, Mae Roper of Malden, Missouri and one sister Anita Graczyk of Malden, Missouri. one brother, Johnny Roper of Senath, Mo.. Grandchildren; Markell, Akeyla, Junior and Ayden Roper and Jasmine Barnes.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He enjoyed working on cars, movers and computers, and spending time with family and friends.

visitation will be Sunday October 25, 205 starting at 6:00 pm with the funeral at 2:00 p.m. Monday October 26, 2015 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery with Donnie Fowler officiating.

Naomia Bell Payne

Naomia Payne was born May 5, 1932 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She passed away Tuesday October 20, 2015 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Most of her life was spent in Qulin, Hillsboro and Poplar Bluff, Mo.

She was the loving wife of over 50 years to Dean Payne, he survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Pam and Gene Iverson and Cathy and Dick Holland, all of Cadet, Missouri. One Son-in-law, Robert and Barbara Perkins of Harviell, Missouri; and one sister, Norma and Gerald Gerboth of Harviell, Mo.

She was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.

Naomia was proceeded in death by her parents, Cecil Parks, Pauline Parks and Ramie Parks; a sister Lucille Chandler, Brother; Floyd Stevens, a daughter Caroline Parks Perkins and son, William Callow, and one grandson Wesley Holland.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015. the Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 2015 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, Missouri. Interment will be in the Cochran Cemetery. She was loved and will be dearly missed.

Iva ImaJean Cosby

Iva ImaJean (Dollins) Cosby, 84, passed away October 20, 2015 in the Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. She was born January 10, 1931 at Coon Island, Missouri to the late Ross and Estella “McKinley” Dollins.

On September 23, 1950 at Piggott, Arkansas she was married to Robert Glenn Cosby. he preceded her in death on February 20, 2011.

She is survived by one daughter, Glenna Ezell and husband Doug of Springfield, Missouri, Step mother, Nona Miller and husband Paul of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, one sister, Brenda Peterson and husband Bob of Delta Junction, Alaska, Brothers; Wayne Dollins and wife Brenda of Wappapello, Missouri, Harry Dollins and wife Carol of St. Charles, Missouri, Gary Dollins and wife Carol of Salem, West Virginia and Jim Dollins and wife Cynthia of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. A sister-in-law Ruth Ann Snider as well as her grandchildren, Ethan Cosby, Jessica Cosby Lafferty and husband Tyler, Kyle and wife Kelsy Ezell and heather Ezell one grat grandchild, Kinsley Ezell. Special Friends Pete and Freta Hager as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

she was preceded in dealth by her husband, parents, and one son Steven Cosby an one grandson Joshua Cosby.

Iva is formally of the Neelyville area where She was a member of the south Poplar Bluff General Baptist church, and enjoyed Sewing, Crocheting, Cooking and her family as well as studying genealogy.

Visitation for Mrs. Cosby will be Friday October 23, 2015 in the Fowler-Sullivan memorial Chapel starting at 6:00 p.m. with funeral October 24, 2015 in the chapel starting at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will be in the Hvam Cemetery with Mike Pope officiating.

Bessie Ray-Gaines

Bessie Lee Ray-Gaines, 75, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Gaines was born April 23, 1940 in Corning, Ark.to the late Ennis James Brooks and Grace (Phelps) Brooks.

She was a member of Black Creek Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and church secretary.

Bessie spent a lifetime serving the Lord Jesus Christ and helping others.  She loved to teach children, whether it be at church, as a kindergarten teacher or a teacher’s aide.  She enjoyed spreading the gospel and singing at nursing homes with amazing grace.  She spent many years as a restaurateur at Ray’s Drive In, in Corning and Newberry’s store in Poplar Bluff. She also enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening and spending time with her family.

On December 22, 1959 she married Hubert Lloyd Ray.  He preceded her in death July 17, 2008.  Later she married William Lee Gains on May 21, 2011.  He passed away April 6, 2015.

Survivors include her children, Toni Howe and husband, Karl, Terry Ray and Roger Ray and wife, Angie; two sisters, Rhoda JoeAnn Taylor and Linda McCaig; one brother, E.J. Brooks and half-brother, Raymond Brooks; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Oakley (Stephen), Christopher Howe (Shina), Nicholas Howe, Alicia Marie Ray, Brittany Slayton (Cody), Baylee Ray and Brooks Ray; five great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Everett, Taylor Brown, Quinton Brown Landri Slayton and Averie Slayton.

Also preceding her in death are a sister, Mary Lou Farinella and half-sisters, Viola Richardson and Evelyn Brown, and half-brother, Eugene Brooks.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the chapel.  Bro. Cory McCaig and Troy Sisk will officiate.  Burial will be in the Black Creek Cemetery.

Marvelene Riepe

Marvelene Riepe, 79, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, October 19, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mrs. Riepe was born December 18, 1935, in Hollywood, Mo., to the late Albert Smith and Cora (Strawn) Smith.

Marvelene was a member of Abundant Life Christian Center.  She enjoyed going to church and had a Christian card ministry.  She had worked as a nurse’s aide and was a foster grandmother for Eugene Field School.  She loved her family, and especially her grandchildren. She was also the organizer  for the annual Smith family reunion.

Survivors include a son, Tony D. Smith and wife,Tammy and a daughter, Denise Hamilton and husband, Jeff; two grandchildren, J.K. Gehlbach (Adris), and Jessica Gehlbach; one great-grandchild, Zayvean Gehlbach, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Riepe was also preceded in death by a sister, Estelle England and brothers, Drew Smith, J.B. “Dub” Smith, Bill Smith, and Jim Smith.

Visitation will be held at  6 p.m.  Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 in funeral home chapel with Pastor David Thomas officiating.  Burial will be in Mole Hill Cemetery near Broseley, Mo.
