Carl McIrvin

Carl Ray McIrvin, 76, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. McIrvin was born May 15, 1940 in Wray, Colorado.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1970 and was a member of DAV and VFW.  He had worked at Soapy Suds Laundromat and enjoyed fishing and watching wildlife.

Survivors include two sons, Ricky Allen McIrvin and James Robert McIrvin and daughter, Tina Marie Jones; brothers, Lawrence “Larry” McIrvin and Alfred McIrvin; 12 grandchildren, Misty Michaels, Sky, Sabrina, Joshua, James H., James L., Thomas and Kathran McIrvin, Cody Ingram, Brad Jones, Brandon Clark, and Amanda Knight; as well as 9 great-grandchildren, Eli McIrvin, Zane McIrvin, Jaxson Ingram, Dakota and Paige Michaels, Elija and Caden West and Kenda and Quinton Burnett; and special friends, Steve Sullivan, Ray Aubuchon and Dewayne Beller.

He is preceded in death by his father, Winfield Scott McIrvin and mother, Julia (Cummingore) McIrvin; sister, Louise McIrvin and brothers, Ora and William Albert McIrvin.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. April 3, 2017 in the chapel with Bro. Raymond Nelson officiating.  He will be laid to rest at 12 noon in the Mo. State Veteran Cemetery, in Bloomfield, with full military honors.

Lucky S. Kirby

Lucky Kirby, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Palermo, Calif., passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at his home.

The son of John Kirby and Effie (Davis) Kirby, Lucky was born October 4, 1938 in Yuba City, Calif.  He was of the Methodist belief.  He served in the U.S. Marines, Army Reserves and California National Guard.  He enjoyed moto cross racing, street rods, pool, gathering with family and friends, telling jokes and traveling here and abroad.  Mr. Kirby worked as a Sutter County Sheriff Deputy for 9 years and 25 years for American Honda Motor Co. and 5 years at Home Depot. Lucky loved life and people, and people loved him.

On December 12, 2012, he married Deborah Kirby, in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Brenda DeLong, Rick Kirby and step-son, David Brinkley II and brother, Sparky Kirby.

He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as one son, Michael Kirby; sisters, Billie Kirby, Georgia Yaney and Jackie Boyd.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2017 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017, in the chapel, with Les Davenport officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with full military honors.

Joe J. DePriest

Joe Junior DePriest, 81, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of St. Louis, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at his home.

Mr. DePriest was born September 19, 1935 in Dyersburg, Tn.  He was a member of Southside Assembly of God and loved doing art work. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from United Tech Windshield.

He is survived by his nieces, Linda Y. Smith (Richard C.), Helen Maness (James W.), and Rose Thomas (Bud) and his church family at Southside Assembly of God.

His parents, Jessie and Rosie (Fair) DePriest preceded him in death, as well as a brother, Floyd B. DePriest Sr. and nephew, Floyd B. DePriest Jr.

A visitation will be held at 12 (noon) Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by a graveside service and interment at 1 p.m. in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with full military honors.  Pastor Jerry Lemons will officiate.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Southside Assembly of God Church.

J.D. Rudisill

J.D. Rudisill, 72, formerly of Poplar Bluff, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at his sister’s home in Oran, Mo.

Mr. Rudisill was born October 1, 1944 in Miner, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve, retiring as Staff Sergeant. J.D. worked as a contractor by trade.

On October 17, 1965, he married Norma Louise (Clark) Rudisill, in Miner.  She preceded him in death May 11, 2010.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Hanna Lori Fulton and Jerri Denise Elder and one sister, Wanda Burns; like a daughter, Mindy Pickens; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews, Rudy Lynn Rudisill of Muncie, Ind. and John Paul Rudisill of Sikeston.

His parents, Rev. R.M. Rudisill and Agnes Mae (Warren) Rudisill preceded him in death, as well as 6 brothers, Ralph Jr., William Kenneth, Paul, Carl, Charles and Lloyd Rudisill and 3 sisters, Juanita, Edith Mae and Thelma Elizabeth.

Visitation will be held at 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 207, in the chapel, with Rev. Greg Gilberto officiating.   Mr. Rudisill will be laid to rest in the Mo. State Veteran Cemetery with full military rites at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Pearl JoAnn McManis

Pearl JoAnn McManis, 77, in Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was born September 14, 1939 at Qulin, Missouri to the late Wesley Pyles and Irene (Rose) Pyles. She was married to Alvin G. McManis in 1967 at Denver, Colorado. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by; one son, James McManis and wife Debbie of Springfield, Missouri. Sisters; Doris Pyles of Herculaneum, Mo. and Kathryn Sanders of Denver, Colorado ; three brothers, John Pyles, Jerry Pyles and Bill Pyles.  She is also survived by her grandchildren; Kaisha McManis, Caleb McManis and Christopher and one great granddaughter; Emberlee McManis.

Mrs MaManis was a lifelong resident of the Poplar Bluff area; She had worked as a nurses aid and enjoyed Watching old reruns,( The Waltons, and Little House on the Prairia)   and listening to gospel music.

A memorial Services are planned for a later date.

Doris Ann Davis

Doris Ann Davis, 77, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at her home.

The daughter of Winston and Virginia (Jameson) Kiser, Doris was born May 11, 1939 in Poplar Bluff.  She was of the Methodist belief.  A retired elementary school teacher and member of X:DeltaXi Sorority, she enjoyed ceramics, gardening, flowers, and traveling, cooking and spending time with her family.

She married D.L. Davis Sr. on March 5, 1955.  He preceded her in death August 13, 2014.

Survivors include her son, Dr. D.L. Davis Jr. (Vel) and daughter, Tana (Davis) Bringer (Mark); 3 sisters, Sharon Clark, Jean Phillips and Tammy Price; 2 brothers, Joseph Kiser and Winston Jay Kiser; as well as 5 grandchildren, Darwin Davis III, Courtney Davis- Barnett, Peyton Davis, Wesley Bringer and Joseph Bringer; 7 great-grandchildren, Landon Bringer, Bailey Bringer, Jaxon Bringer, Paige Davis, Davis Barnett, Reese Barnett and Beau Barnett, and special friend and caretaker, Eva Phillips.

A memorial celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at her home.

Dennis D. Scott

Dennis D. Scott, 65, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at his home.

Son of Grover D. Scott and the late Ruby E. Freeman-Scott, Dennis was born January 31, 1952 in Poplar Bluff, where he grew up and graduated high school in 1970.  He went on to be a building contractor for many of the Poplar Bluff community builders.

Survivors include his father, Grover D. Scott; one sister, Sandra F. Scott-Richardson-Boyers and husband, Melvin, and brother, Gary L.  Scott and wife, Edie; one niece, Kelly Ann Richardson-Smith and husband, Tim, as well as four nephews, Kurt D. Richardson and wife, Melissa, Daniel R. Scott and wife, Christi, Brian E. Scott all of Poplar Bluff and Christopher E. Scott and wife, Melissa from Pennsylvania; five great nieces and four great-nephews.

Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby E. Freeman-Scott, September 7, 2007; his paternal grandparents, E. O. and Birth Scott, and maternal grandparents, William B. and Mable C. Freeman.

Dennis’ family will honor his wishes to be cremated and will hold a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center 200 South B Street Poplar Bluff.   Rev. Ted Elledge will officiate.

Janis L. Birdsong

Janis L. Birdsong, 67, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Birdsong was born January 1, 1950 in Poplar Bluff.  She was of the Baptist faith.  Janis had worked at Smiley Container Factory before retirement.  She enjoyed reading, watching movies and spending time with her family.

Survivors include 2 sisters, Anita Birdsong and Alleene Sweeza and 2 brothers, Russell Birdsong and Blake T. Birdsong.

Her parents, Blake Birdsong and Mary (Timmons) Birdsong preceded her in death as well as siblings, Mary Stewart, Ruth Carl, Gene Birdsong and Billy Birdsong.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2017,  at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel,  with Rev. Calvin Bulher officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Black Creek Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home.

Rick Boyd Rudd

Rick Boyd Rudd, 53, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Rick was born September 12, 1963 in St. Charles, Mo.  He was an auto mechanic by trade and enjoyed tinkering on cars and watching movies.

He is survived by his sister, Debra Butler (Boyd) of Harviell and two brothers, David Rudd of Piedmont and Phillip Rudd of Pittsburg, Ks.

His parents, Boyd Rudd and Mary Laverne Rudd, as well as brother, Timothy Wayne Rudd preceded him in death.

Cremation was chosen as final disposition.

Connie Vaughn

Connie Victoria Vaughn, 64, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away at her home Thursday, March 9, 2017.

Mrs. Vaughn was born September 12, 1952 in Poplar Bluff.

She is survived by her son, Kevin (Lani) Vaughn; 2 sisters, Judy Pfeifer and Joyce Kelley; 3 brothers, Dennis Herford, Clay Herford and Melvin Herford, as well as 3 grandchildren, Kelli Vaughn, Travis Vaughn and Abbi Vaughn.

Her husband, George Vaughn and parents, Thomas Melvin Herford and Georgie L. (Brown) Herford all preceded her in death.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at Black Creek Cemetery with Rev. Greg Gilberto officiating.
